If you haven’t heard it yet, the most talked about epic adventure is soon upon us. A massive indoor and outdoor water park coming to the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City. I know I’ve only talked about it since last year, even before the groundbreaking ceremony. It’s the countdown. It will be the largest water park, even more significant than the Great Wolf lodge. I’ve never been there, but I have friends who have brought their kids and they said it was very nice. With locations in several states, it’s a top year-round destination for families. It’s indoors, so even during the winter you can enjoy this amazing water park. You might think: it’s cool, but water parks are mostly for families with children. What makes this water park so unique? As one of the largest, the Showboat hotel will host this spectacular event.
The former casino reopened as a non-casino hotel after closing its doors in 2014. Over the years it has transformed and now boasts a variety of activities for everyone. Because the Lucky Snake (check out my blog about the opening of this epic arcade) is the largest arcade on the East Coast, a go-kart track with camera-equipped helmets for photos, miniature golf, bowling, a sports and many more; and will soon be home to ISLAND Waterpark.
It will feature a retractable glass roof, shops, swimming pools, lazy rivers, waterslides and restaurants.
“Unique to Atlantic City, the year-round family resort will be the first for this city in its existence. Other planned activities include zip lines, a roller coaster, and a boardwalk with signature boardwalk games. But perhaps the most anticipated of this water park is an adults-only area, a whopping 10,000 square feet. Who said water parks are just for kids?
With the water park slated to open in the summer of 2023, the vibe of Atlantic City, especially the Showboat Hotel, is a sense of anticipation, excitement and hope, something residents haven’t felt in a long time. After all, with the closure of major casinos, most people have wiped Atlantic City off the map; nine casinos shut down, how could this town survive? After all, casinos from New York to Maryland were popping up and down the East Coast. Three casinos within a less than 50-mile radius have opened in Maryland alone.
Throughout the city, ISLAND Waterpark posters are posted in storefronts and casinos. The closer you get to opening, this epic adventure will only create excitement, something not seen in a long time. But the water park is only the beginning of things to come. Atlantic City adventure is here to stay.
